Bio

Kira Milligan (b. 1994, Naperville, IL) graduated with a B.F.A. from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2016. In 2014, she was awarded a monetary sum for being a Prismyan Challenge Finalist, and in 2016, Milligan was the undergraduate recipient for the SCAD  School of Fine Arts' Outstanding Achievement Award.

As an American citizen raised in Tanzania and Kenya, Milligan explores the experience of calling a place home while simultaneously being seen as an outsider. Her work also looks at misconceptions and idealizations, and how these manifest in the sense of place.

Milligan has exhibited and sold her work in numerous group exhibitions, including INHABIT, at Oglethorpe Gallery (Savannah, GA), as well as exhibiting at the Savannah Law School in a 2-person show, IN-BETWEEN PARADISE.  Milligan has also shown at the SCAD B.F.A. Senior Painting Exhibition in Alexander Hall (Savannah, GA), and most recently, she helped to organize and participated in an international exhibition in Lacoste, France. Currently, Milligan is an art instructor in Washington D.C., and has work for sale exhibited at the National Harbor in Maryland.
