SCAD Painting Students Travel to NYC

On the weekend of May 5th, 2016, thirteen SCAD Painting club undergraduate and graduate students expanded their learning environment by traveling to New York City for several important art world events. The itinerary included relevant contemporary fairs and museums, including the Frieze Art Fair, the 1:54 African Art Fair, the MOMA, and more. Documenting their experiences by posting updates and blogging about the trip along the way*, the Alexander Collective Club students hope to share some insights** into the contemporary art scene through the lens of a student.

"Alexander Hall houses the Savannah College of Art and Design's B.F.A. and M.F.A. painting program. In addition to galleries, classrooms, critique areas, technology lab, woodshop and ceramics and printmaking facilities, 70 studios are provided to undergraduate and graduate painting students, creating a dynamic creative community. Each quarter, around 1000 visitors are welcomed to an open studio, exhibition and sales event, giving students the opportunity to participate in multiple exhibition opportunities prior to graduation. At SCAD, a rewarding career in the fine arts starts here with outstanding faculty and inspiring facilities."
